About the Author

Well, I've been told long enough that, as a writer, it is an inherent duty to have a blog. All these well-meaning mentors and friends are saying that I need to keep my creative juices flowing, and a blog is the perfect thing for keeping me disciplined. And I guess they think it will help hone my talents and get my name out there and whatever. I dunno. All I know is I've been putting it off for years because whenever I think of actually keeping a blog, my mind goes blank. Even now, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing.

This is my "um...now what?" face. Which I am wearing right this second.

I've got a few ideas of what topics I'd like to address on a blog. I wish I had a good theme, like the writers of Cake Wrecks or Hyperbole and a Half. Maybe I'll find my groove as I go along. For now I'm just going to blog whenever I get the urge to do so. Hope you like to hear about books, movies, writing woes, and random people I meet, because that's what you're gonna get if you follow me.

Really, I'm not just a writer, though. Mostly I'm an editor. Nothing pleases me more than getting permission to correct someone's grammar--and getting paid for it! Writing is hard work, but editing is just time-consuming. Once you know the rules, the difficulty of the job just depends on how long the document is that you're working on.

Besides reading and writing and being a grammar Nazi, I also love animals. Anyone who knows me knows that. I was indoctrinated at a very young age to love animals. My parents took me to the zoo on a regular basis. The majority of the first five years of my life was spent pretending I was a dog. I've lived in suburbia my whole life, but that doesn't stop me from getting excited to observe scrub jays in my backyard or try to get the neighbor's cat to come let me pet him. And when I get the chance to actually leave the city and go on a hike, I'm in heaven. I love the colors of nature. The sights. The sounds. The wildlife, especially.

Animals make frequent appearances in my stories. I also love to draw them. I stink at drawing everything else except animals, probably because when my parents told me to stop acting like a puppy and start acting like a little girl, I diverted my energy and put it into drawing puppies instead.

Anyways, that's a little bit about me. I hope I write something interesting enough for you to read more and get to know me over time. If not, no hard feelings. Thanks for visiting. You have a nice day.
